Ink cartridges types
Sponge:
Problably the less complex method to retain ink in
a cartridge is the sponge system. It is the sponge's ink attraction that prevents the
spillover of ink throught the print head. However, if the sponge retains the ink too thight,
the ink won't be fed properly to the print head, resulting a defective print. ink´s features like
viscosity can be adjusted for ensure for the right operation of the print head.

Sponge with more ink tank: This system it's very similar to the first.
The primary diference in this type of cartridge it's the use of the sponge.
In this case the sponge is used for transporting ink to the printer head.
Many of this features exist in all of the cartridges with sponge. However
some features should be modified for its own operation. The main
adventage is that using this system can retain more ink in the cartridge.
This kind of system is the used by Canon in its recent models of printers.

System of internal ventilation: This vacumm system mantains a negative pressure
inside of the cartridge. The negative pressure is created by a metal bracket
pressing the sides of the air bags inside the cartridge. The constant pressure
of the brackets, with the ventilation valve system, give balance in the pressure
to the system. This system provides more capacity of ink retention, but also have
some disadventages, the cartridge can loose some pressure in the racharge moment
if you don't do a good vacuum, which may lead the ink cartridge to spilled nonstop.

Bag System: A very successful system for retaining ink is using the
simple bag method. This method works putting the liquid in the bag.
Once recharged, the airbag doesn't allows the air enter in it, and as long as no air
enters into the cartridge, the ink will not dry. However when
recharging and sealing this must stay with a negative pressure inside
the cartridge to avoid the ink spill.
